    The Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals are pleased to announce that we will be receiving the Young Professionals' Organization of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Leadership Community Choice Awards!  MULYP will be honored during the 2019 Wisconsin Leadership Summit Awards program on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.  

    The first-ever Wisconsin Leadership Awards will honor leaders and organizations, chosen by their peers, for the work they've done in their organizations and their communities. Thank you to everyone who voted for MULYP to receive this honorable recognition!  See the listing of the additional 2019 winners HERE

    MULYP President Tiffany Henry will be participating as a panelist on the Emerging Leaders Session during Day 1 of the Summit. For more information about the section head over to the WI Leadership Summit SUMMIT

    This is an exciting time for our organization. We look forward to continuing our service and being a voice for Young Professionals!

    Congratulations to our October Member of the Month Demarion Green!

    Learn more about Demarion and why he joined YP below!

    Demarion Green is a retail manager and part-time real estate investor in Southeast, Wisconsin. He has been in the customer service industry for over 15 years and held various managerial roles within his career. Demarion has received numerous accolades in the retail industry and known to be a result driven Servant Leader. His passion is entrepreneurship and his philanthropic contribution throughout his life. He is a strong believer in the statement, “You are what you think you are” and looks forward to the day that his thoughts manifest into reality. Demarion is a native of Milwaukee, and proud alum of Milwaukee High School of the Arts, and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Management.

    "I’ve always admired the Milwaukee Urban League dedication and unconditional support towards empowering, Us, African Americans the ability to inspire, dream and create a better tomorrow. I value and appreciate the servitude of the Milwaukee Urban League has displayed for over 100 years, while continuously uplifting and inspiring our communities.     We're pleased to be a community partner organization with the Greater Milwaukee Complete Count Committee for the 2020 Census!  It's important that we prepare for the 2020 Census so Milwaukee and our state receives its fair share of funding for various services. Everyone must be counted!  Census Frequently Asked Questions!

    Our October General Body meeting will focus on this work and how everyone assist.  More details to be announced! 

    The Census Bureau is currently recruiting to hire census takers, recruiting assistants, office staffs, and supervisory staff. To be eligible, you must be 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, and be a U.S. citizen. Interested residents are encouraged to Apply Here

    Thank you to everyone who attended our Professional Development Conference and Toast to Twenty Celebration on Saturday September 21. 

    A special thanks to our all of our facilitators, our Keynote Speaker Corry Joe Biddle who was dynamic, energizing, and inspiring, to our Immediate Past President National Urban League Young Professionals President Carlos Clanton for continuing to show his support to local chapters in the movement, along with our sister chapters from Chicago and Madison who traveled for the celebration!!

    Thank you to our Milwaukee Urban League CEO & President Dr. Eve Hall, and our Milwaukee Urban League Guild President Cynthia Stokes Murray, and our past MULYP Presidents for their leadership, commitment and support. Thank you City of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and State Representative Kalan Haywood II for making a surprise visit to celebrate our 20th Anniversary!!

    We look forward to 20 more years of service but importantly we look forward to you joining us and becoming a member.

    Community Powerhouse Corry Joe Biddle of FUEL Milwaukee will serve as our Keynote Speaker for the 2019 Professional Development Conference on September 21, 2019!

    Corry Joe serves as the Vice President of Community Affairs for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), promoting the association’s interest in making Milwaukee a distinct place to live, work and do business. She is the Executive Director of FUEL Milwaukee, the MMAC’s community engagement organization targeting New Milwaukeeans and young professionals.

    She is responsible for the oversight and development of programs, services, and events benefiting FUEL’s 7,000 members and 60 corporate sponsors. Formerly the executive director of America’s Black Holocaust Museum, Corry Joe offers a unique perspective on the relationship between diversity, economic development, and professional networking.

    Corry Joe graduated from Mount Mary College with degrees in business administration and professional writing and has earned a certificate of leadership from the Cardinal Stritch African American Leadership Program (AALP). She is the recipient of the US Postal Service’s Growing Leadership Award, has been honored as one of the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Forty Under 40, and was also named a “Rad Woman” of 2016 by the Greater Milwaukee Women’s Fund.

    The Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals (MULYP) is introducing an exciting Personal & Professional Development Conference.  We are taking action to develop and help YP's answer the questions on, What does legacy mean to you? What does it mean to create impact in your community? Does the legacy you want to leave behind align with the impact you are creating? No matter where you are on your journey, you can always create impact in the world around you and leave a strong legacy along the way.  This year's conference theme is Legacy of Leadership: Impact Driven Philanthropy. 

    The MULYP Personal & Professional Development Conference will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 8:30AM-2:30PM at the historic Harley Davidson Garage, located at 400 W. Canal Street.

    Congratulations to our MULYP President Tiffany Henry on successfully completing the Spring 2019 Cohort!  

    The application for the National Urban League's Certificate in Advocacy Fall 2019 Cohort is now available! You still have time! This is a great program that will help you grow in the area of advocacy. If you have a serious interest in expanding your knowledge of congressional advocacy and its application within the Urban League Movement, you should apply! ⁣The Fall Cohort will start October 2019 until April 2020.

    NULYP is excited to announce the launch of Express Feedback for Good, a feedback program where sharing your opinion on well known companies & brands can help generate $50K of funding for NULYP, with $10K of prizes for the 16 local chapters with the highest participation! 

    Each week (4 weeks) the TOP performing chapters in each region will receive $500. Chapters must provide a minimum of 250 pieces of feedback and can only win once during the four weeks. 

    At the conclusion of the program the overall TOP performing chapter from each region will receive an additional $500.
