Protesting: A Psychological & Strategic Driver for Societal Change

    Thursday, June 11, 20202:00 PM - 3:00 PM CDT

    Register HERE

In the two weeks since George Floyd was arrested and killed by Minneapolis police officers, communities throughout the nation have organized in protest of his and countless other unjust killings. Marches, riots, and rallies have happened in cities across the nation - all collective actions calling for change and equity in the way black and brown people are treated in our country.

Join Fuel Milwaukee for a live discussion about the psychology and strategy of protesting. We'll talk about: the conditions and societal factors that set the stage for unprecedented, multicultural outrage to long-standing injustices wide-spread "Black Lives Matter" sentiment and what it means for racial unity among all groups of people the psychology of rioting and why it happens amid mostly peaceful demonstrations the road to change and what must happen in concert with acts of civil unrest to create lasting change.

This conversation is intended to share information and foster understanding about what everyone in Milwaukee, and the nation, is experiencing in our communities. This discussion is a safe place and is open to all.

Over the past month our world, country, state, city along with our daily personal and professional lives have been disrupted due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. It is only natural for fear, and anxiety of the unknown to set in.  In particularly we have seen the recent data on the increased number of positive cases in Wisconsin and the rise in deaths in the African American community in Milwaukee.

While this indeed is concerning, we want to ensure that we receive an understanding of COVID-19 and its impact in our community and hear from our expert public health official along with healthcare professionals who are working on the front lines in addressing this public health crisis to gain insight, education, resources around messaging, and next steps.

TOMORROW April 9, we are hosting a live virtual discussion featuring:

City of Milwaukee Health Commissioner, Dr. Jeanette Kowalik

Dr. Eve Hall, President & CEO, Milwaukee Urban League

Healthcare Professionals, and Members of the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals:

    Jackie Oraedu, Physician Assistant

    LaRonda Joyner, Registered Nurse

    Dr. Lyah Holmes, Nurse Practitioner

Understanding the Impact of COVID-19 in Milwaukee

    Thursday, April 9, 2020 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST

    Register here https://tmulyp.org/event-3808055

This conversation and the information provided is intended to empower our membership and the Milwaukee community to flatten the curve, and ensure the health of yourself, your loved ones, and everyone around you.
