Born in Milwaukee WI, Charles is the second oldest of seven and a two time U.S. Army combat veteran currently still serving in the Army Reserve as a HVAC specialist; yet his passion is with young children and education. Charles is currently a student studying early childhood education at Milwaukee Area Technical College where which he currently holds a position on the Liberal Arts Dean's list. Charles's hobbies include volunteering traveling and freelance modeling. He chose to join the ranks of MULYP to network & learn with like minded individuals and hopefully become a service to the league and the community we serve as well.

Charles created Tu'lage reality LLC in 2018, named after his younger brother who passed in 2008. Tu'lage reality focuses on the 53206 zip code with efforts to obtain and renovate the inner city homes in the communities he grew up in. Charles is honored to be Member of the Month with such a organization.  Thanks a lot MULYP for this opportunity & platform!

June 25, 2019 marked six years since the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Shelby v. Holder case which gutted key provisions of the the Voting Rights Act of 1965, subjecting millions of voters to discrimination and disenfranchisement.

Join MULYP and the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) as we urge Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act by passing the Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4 and S. 561).

    1. You can easily do so by clicking the link below

    https://p2a.co/ksEhKzV

    2. Send an email to your member of Congress, provide your personal contact information and most importantly add your YP chapter name (Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals) so we can receive credit.

    3. The platform contains a pre-set letter template that you can keep as is or edit as you see fit, however do not remove the information in the brackets.

    4. Tweet your members of Congress. Click the twitter icon at the top on the right on the form here https://p2a.co/ksEhKzV and send pre-set tweet. Their twitter handle is already included.

Read more about why Crissi joined MULYP!

I am incredibly humbled and honored to be selected as the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals Member of the Month. This is very exciting seeing as I am an avid supporter of the organization and its efforts to strengthen the African-American community as well as communities of color all over the country. The reason I joined is because I strongly believe in community-based work and believing in others is key to a thriving community.

As a young, African-American, single mother living on Milwaukee’s north side, the odds have not always been in my favor. I grew up in the foster care system, had to deal with my mother’s substance abuse, and seen my father be gunned down all at a young age. I have constantly had to battle the system and defy the statistics usually placed upon so many of dealing with similar issues. These low moments in my life have not deterred me but instead inspire me to help others. In 2018 I created Jackson House LLC as a vessel for those of us in the community to help improve our city one deed at a time. At Jackson House our mission is to help the homeless, clean up trash in the community and overall change the narrative for our people. I am also currently a junior at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science.

Even though being a full time working mommy, a student and entrepreneur is no easy task, I will continue to support The Urban League in their mission to help people of color achieve civil rights and social and economic equality so that we can become more self-reliant members of society. We need as many examples of excellence among us as possible & I am extremely grateful that despite the shortcomings, pitfalls and challenges life has handed me at times, a little brown girl from MKE has still been able to make a change not just in this city but within herself. That is proof that no matter who you are or what the circumstances are you too can rise and achieve your dreams.

Thank you so much Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals!

This past Saturday YP's supported the Milwaukee Urban League at the 34th Annual Black and White Ball, for a celebration of 100 years of "Empowering Communities and Changing Lives."

The annual ball remains the Milwaukee Urban League's largest major fundraiser and this year featured remarks from the National Urban League National President & CEO Marc Morial, along with silent auction, centennial award recognition, entertainment, and more. Thank you to everyone for your support in building the Milwaukee Urban League's capacity to empower urban communities through education, employment, and economic vibrancy.

Happy 100th Birthday to the Milwaukee Urban League!
