MULYP Presents: Protest to Power, What's Next?

  • 07/02/2020
  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
  • Virtual Event

Marches, rallies, and protests are taking place in cities across the nation and right here in the City of Milwaukee calling for change and equity in the way black and brown people are treated in our country and in our community.  The question that many have what's next, what type of impact will protesting have in seeing accountability, justice, and closing the gap of systemic racism.

Join us for a live virtual discussion on:

-the power of the people exercising their right to protest

-the normalcy of civil protesting along with the history and purpose of taking it to the streets

-the Black Lives Matter statement and the intersectionality of ensuring all black voices are heard and represented within the movement

-the purpose and art of organizing

-the road to justice and what must happen in concert with acts of civil unrest

We look forward to an informative dialogue presented by:

Jeffery Roman, Community Organizer/ Activist Derut Consulting Cooperative

Annia Leonard, Youth Organizer UBLAC Milwaukee

Markasa Tucker, Director of the African American Roundtable

Montell Infiniti Ross, LGBTQ+ Activist Courage MKE
